Today Australia has shown its true colours, it has finally earned its reputation of ‘most egalitarian’ country on the planet.
The same sex marriage bill has united ministers from all parties – liberal, labour, nationals and more – all said YES to equality and gave in to jubilant celebrations.
Here’s a quote from ‘The Age’:
“It was done. Almost every member of the House of Representatives had voted ‘YES’ to changing the marriage act. From that moment forth, the nation’s laws would no longer restrict marriage to that between a man and a woman. It would, simply, be for two people.”
It is what sets us apart, what makes us proud – our belief that we are all equal under the southern sky.
